Aulani

When my husband and I visited Aulani in February, it was Chiberia at home in Illinois. Needless to say, the warm sunny weather of Hawaii was a welcome change!
You can’t spend time on a Hawaiian island without spending time on a beach. Aulani delivers! We had a chance to explore beach activities. Aulani has something for everyone when it comes to fun in the sun!

Aulani provides a beautiful beach with ocean waters being tamed by a cozy lagoon. I wasn’t well versed in Hawaii prior to this trip. I assumed Aulani would be just open to the ocean. The three resorts in this area of Oahu are all set up this way – with a lagoon area on the beach.

As part of my Hawaii experience, I had a desire to try stand up paddle boarding. Surfing felt a little too dangerous so I thought the stand up paddle board might be a nice alternative. The price to rent equipment for this activity was only $30 per hour. I didn’t think that was bad at all for Disney AND Hawaii. However, I watched someone else paddle back and forth across the lagoon and couldn’t see the fun of it. My stand up paddle board experience was limited then to just watching someone.
You can rent kayaks, snorkel sets and boogie boards. Chairs, umbrellas and sand toys are complimentary and readily available. I found the pool areas to be more crowded than the beach areas.
There are scheduled activities for kids, families and teens. When we were there, we didn’t see any of these activities in action, but they do sound fun. One of the activities is a sand sculpture class. I would have done this activity for sure!
Disney’s Aulani has created a gorgeous beach area with plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy!
