Last week we got to experience something that we have never been able to try the Animation Academy at Hollywood Studios. This is an interactive class which is led by a Disney-trained artist. During this 25 minute class we learned how to draw sketch a Disney character, and we even got to keep our work!
My family of 5 attended the attraction, my children are 7,10, and 17 and all 3 of them including my husband and myself enjoyed partaking. It was really neat to learn how Disney artists sketch out the characters. I also loved that we each received our own drawing area, this really added to the ambiance of the attraction. I can see how some of the skills taught can be carried over to drawing other characters as well. My boys both want to learn more about drawing characters and have been searching youtube for additional lessons.
The Disney artist does only do one character, our session was Pluto. The session is about 25 minutes and has limited seating. We arrived about 20 minutes before the class began and we were escorted to the waiting area.
*If you are one of the last couple of people to enter class you may be given a handheld drawing board. In my opinion it would be better to wait for the next class so you have the full effect.
