Celebrate Animal Kindgom’s 15th Anniversary on Earth Day!

April 22nd Disney will be celebrating the 15th Anniversary with special events all over the park.  I remember the first time that I went to Animal Kingdom!  My son was just 2 years old and everything was larger that life to him.  We went to Rafiki’s conservation station to see the petting zoo.  Tyler loved to be able to touch the animals as well as see them.  The cast members took the time to see that Tyler understand that the goat that he was brushing liked to have his ears scratched.  Tyler might not remember this as it was 11 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.  This is  a great way to celebrate Earth day and remember all the great times you had with your family when you first came to Animal kingdom.

Here are a few of the details of what’s planned for the park’s anniversary:

  • Special opening ceremony – Meet at the Tree of Life at 8:40 a.m., to hear from Josh D’Amaro, Vice President of Disney’s Animal Kingdom; Dr. Jackie Ogden, Vice President of Animals, Science and Environment; and Joe Rohde, Senior Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering Creative. Make sure you arrive early for this!
  • Earth Day “Party for the Planet” festivities – Special interactive activities that focus on animals and nature will take place throughout the park from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Artists and other vendors will present their work on in Africa and on Discovery Island, with their work available for purchase.
  • Opportunity to purchase special 15th anniversary merchandise, available in limited quantities.
  • Special food & beverage.
