I feel like I spend half of my week convincing families that EPCOT is fun for all ages. As a Disney Travel professional I am used to Clients coming to me with a HUGE misconception that EPCOT has NOTHING to do for families with children. It has been a mission of mine to show Disney loving families that EPCOT has a TON to offer for travelers of all ages.
This brings me to my most recent visit to Disney where we spent 3 of our 9 day vacation at EPCOT. My children are 17, 9,6 and yes, they love EPCOT and always have but this is because we have shown them everything there is to offer from food, to museum-like attractions, to rides that thrill!
This is not the first time that we have taken advantage of the free program, Kidcot Fun Stops at EPCOT. But it was the first time all 3 of my kids were of age to sit individually and enjoy their creation without our assistance.
Disney put together Kidcot Fun Stops to make EPCOT more engaging for families. You can look at this as a progressive dinner but with crafts. You start off by asking a cast member if you can participate and you will be given a choice of two characters on a stick to decorate. Right now they are offering Duffy the Bear and Perry the Platypus. The idea is to visit a kiosk in each country around World Showcase and spend some time with a cast member (native to the country you are visiting) and decorate your character. Cast Members typically engage with the children as to teach them something neat about their country.
Kiosks can be found in all pavilions around World Showcase and at select locations in Future World. Participation is 100% free.
To enhance your experience you can purchase a World Showcase Passport Kit from any of the stores close to the kiosks and get them stamped at the Kidcot Fun Stops kiosks. We even witnessed adults participating in the fun!
We truly enjoyed watching our children participate in the program and it was nice for us to be able to sit and relax in each country as they participated…win, win for both! :0)
