Brick-or-Treat

Today Guru Bonnie McVeigh shares her experience at Legoland with us. Be sure to follow Bonnie on Facebook HERE and contact her today to request a quote for Legoland and beyond at bonnie@thewdwguru.com.

Halloween time is upon us, and if you’re going to be in Central Florida you probably know about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney or Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, but did you know Legoland also has a Halloween event, and it’s free? That’s right on weekends, Saturday or Sunday, in October you can Brick or Treat as part of your Legoland admission, they have Lego monster meet and greets, a trick or treat  trail, a kids costume contest, a Halloween scavenger hunt, a Lego ghost build you can help with, fun decorations throughout the park, and even a dance party.

We went to this for the first time this year and really enjoyed, it was a great extra event to a fun day. The ghost build was fun, we got to help in building an 8’ tall Super Brick Ghost model. The meet and greets were fun, basically it was Lego versions of monster, so they’re not to scary for little ones. We met Wanda the Witch, you can also meet Vladimir the Vampire, and Mortimer the Mummy. I liked the decorations around the park, they weren’t to grand but made the point. They had the windows boarded up, and hanging ghosts all over, many Jack O Lanterns, and plenty of spiders, all were Lego’s so it was extra fun.

The trick or treating started at 3pm, and it was along a nice trail between the lake and MIniland. There were about  10 treat stations around it. You don’t get a ton of candy like at MNSSHP, but then again this event is free where as that is not. All the candy they gave out was non chocolate, which is good because most of the time it takes place during the day and it would surely melt. They also give away a limited number of a special commemorative Lego brick. The costume contest started at 3:30, but you signed up throughout the day. It had 3 age groups, 0-4, 5-7, and 8-12, we didn’t do this because we forgot my sons costume, but if we go next year we surely will. In the scavenger hunt you had to find all the ghost’s around the park and unscramble a secret word. By completing it you were entered to win Lego sets and even tickets to Legoland. The Monster Mash Dance Party started at 5pm, so we didn’t get to go because we left before it started. It takes place near the front of the park and all the Lego monsters come out to dance the night away!

As I said this event is included with your park admission but they also offer a VIP Experience for  $75 per person, $85 on the last weekend. It includes, on top of all the free activites:

  • Priority access to the trick or treat trail
  • Special Lego trick or treat beg and goodies for each child
  • An exclusive spooky after hours flashlight tour of Miniland with a Master Model Builder
  • A mini Master Model Builder session with take home Lego set
  • VIP Brick or Treat games
  • Face painting for each guest
  • Snacks and refreshments throughout the night

We had a really good time and enjoyed the Brick or Treating and it is something we will probably add to our Halloween traditions. If you are planning to go to Legoland in October I recommend going on the weekend and checking out this fun, free event.
