I am going to do an in-depth review of each of the things that I experienced on the Disney Fantasy. These reviews are from my personal experience and are my opinions. Do remember that this was my first time cruising.
Up first…Port Canaveral/Entering the Ship!
We stayed on Disney property the night before we were scheduled to depart. I would highly recommend doing so as with flights being delayed and such can create stress on travelers. Being that we stayed in Disney property the night before, we took the Disney Cruise Line motor-coach from Disney property to Port Canaveral. It was about a 90 minute ride but our bus was running ahead of schedule so he told us he was going to take it slow.:-)
Being that I am a new cruiser and have NEVER seen a ship in person you can only imagine how amazing it was to see the ship from the motor-coach for the first time. It was a sight that I will never forget and for those of you that have yet to cruise, it is a sight that nobody can ever explain to you. Just be sure to have your camera ready. I could never have imagined the enormity of the vessel…I was in AWE.
After you arrive and the motor-coach parks, you are directed through security which is very similar to the airport security system, but much less intimidating. Then the magic begins!
Mickey was waiting to greet us at the inside area of the port and was ready for pictures! He was super cute dressed in his captain suit. Once you are up at the port, you need to fill out the mandatory health questionnaire and check in. This is where you will be given you stateroom key. Upon check-in passengers will need to wait for their boarding position to be called. Of course Disney does this up so cute! Not only do you have your picture taken but your name is announced as you board the ship! This just adds a little extra magic into your trip.
When I entered the ship I was stunned at the elegance of the decor…I had no idea what to expect but it blew me away. Pictures do the decor no justice whatsoever. This was the first but not the last time that I looked around and could not believe that I was on a boat.
Naturally, you would want your next stop to be your stateroom. We were not able to enter upon arrival as the rooms are not ready on the ship until 1:30. You are free to eat, play or explore the ship while you wait for your room to be ready.
We decided to eat but I will be blogging about that a bit later when I review the restaurants. There is no doubt in my mind that everyone that enters the Disney Fantasy will be thoroughly impressed with the aesthetics if this ship. It was designed with you in mind…from live portrait art, to porthole seats there is magic around every corner of the ship.
Next stop…Staterooms!
See ya real soon!
