I am traveling a lot as we finish off 2020. My goal in visiting places is to see how safety is being handled from the airport all of the way through the resort experience. I am freshly back from a 3-night stay at Dreams Vista Cancun Golf and Spa Resort.

Just like a couple of weeks ago when I went to Jamaica, I had a very early flight out of O’hare Airport. Airport staff and guests still maintain proper distancing and mask wearing throughout the process. This continues to make me proud to fly out of Chicago.
American Airlines makes several announcements at the gate and during boarding about their mask policy. In addition, you are reminded that food and beverage service has been temporarily suspended. As we boarded, I got my Clorox wipes prepared because it can be hard to search through your bag once on board. I do feel it is up to you and the airline to sanitize your space so I bring plenty of gear with me. When I wipe things down, I pay special attention to seatbelts, tray tables, and headrests both on my seat and in front of me. My mother in-law was traveling with me and we both chose aisle seats. We quickly saw that nobody was sitting in the row in front of us so we asked if we could move there. The flight attendants were so nice and said of course. Having a row to ourselves made us so much more comfortable on our flight.
The flight went off as normal without any issues whatsoever. I love that American asks their passengers to remain seated during the deplane process. On this flight and our return, everyone remained seated as we deplaned one row at a time. Very nice!
In flight, your flight attendants will offer you your immigration paperwork, IF there is enough. On our flight, they ran out of sheets. I like mine filled out in advance because I do not like doing it once I am off the plane. You will thank me for giving you THIS LINK to fill out your paperwork in advance so you can walk right by people who had to step aside to fill in their paperwork. Make sure you print your form in color, and each traveler will need their own.
The wait-time will depend on the time of day you arrive. We had about a 30-minute wait. Mexico did have social distancing reminders throughout the line and they made several announcements. Once you make it through immigration, you can then proceed to grab your luggage.
It was so nice to have our luggage already waiting for us at our carousel…we grabbed and went!!
