Today I’m going to share a few things I’m excited about as I get to visit EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival opening AND closing week this year!  I can’t believe it’s working out this way but I’m not going to complain.

First of all, I can get Canada’s famous Cheddar Cheese Soup as often as I want without making an ADR 180 days out.  If you have eaten at Le Cellier on the dining plan, you don’t get an opportunity to have this delicious soup as part of your meal.  As one who can’t get into this restaurant often, I get very excited to be able to stop by the kiosk and get a cup of this delicious soup at any point over the festival.

France brings me escargot and a cosmo slush.  MMMMM.  I don’t eat much French cuisine at all.  I am able to get a taste of this delicious treat and sip down a delicious cocktail without asking the rest of my travelling party to sit down for a full meal.  This line does get long so you’ll see me dining here early in the day.

The first year I attended F&W, I saw an interesting description at the Champagne and Sparking Wine kiosk:  “Banfi, Rosa Regale – Red, sparkling wine, rose bouquet with flavors of raspberry and chocolate.”  My first thought was “Really?  All of those tastes?”  Keep in mind my palate is not that sophisticated.  The first glass I had sealed my fate.  It’s bubbly, and you can taste the raspberry immediately with a touch of chocolate.  I will tell you, by the end of that sip, you can smell the roses and it is an excellent drink!

There are people out there who will make it their business to “Drink around EPCOT.”  The goal being to start at one end of World Showcase and have a drink at each country in one trip around the world.  Needless to say, at the Food and Wine Festival, doing so would at least make you drunk if not sick so I suggest taking several trips!

Enjoy the Food and Wine Festival and be ready to pace yourself!
