Disney vacations are full of experiences and moments that you will want to remember and cherish for always. Photos and video are the most common methods of capturing these memories so you can keep your memories. But what about those things you didn’t catch on film?
I’m suggesting a trip journal. I am NOT suggesting a leather bound tome with pages upon pages of story from your trip. I’m also not saying to make a scrapbook – though there are people out there who are so creative with them. I am not one of those people.
I present the Savvy Travel Journal!!!!
Step 1
Purchase a pack of postcards from any shop on property. I suggest the 9 pack of park postcards. You can choose whichever park you want. The last time I bought a pack, they cost $5. If you decide you are sending post cards home to friends, pull those out of your pack before doing this project,
Step 2
Get yourself one of these:
At office supply stores they are close “Loose Leaf Clips.” At a store like Target or Wal Mart, you can find these in the office supply section in packs of one or two. I use the 1 inch size. You do not need this piece until you return home so don’t freak out about finding one on property somewhere.
Step 3
At the end of each day, use the back of any postcard to write down what happened that day. This is in no way supposed to be all fancy! I don’t even use sentences. I usually cover what parks and any special attractions we did, where we ate and something funny that happened. I jot down cast member moments or what my girls call attractions. Monsters Inc Laugh Floor was “Mouse A Geiske” for Mike Wazowski for the longest time. I remember that because it’s written on a postcard from a trip.
Step 4
Upon your return, simply put the postcards in day order, punch a hole in the top corner and feed the cards through the open loose leaf clip. Close said clip and voila! Trip journal completed!
Two things about that photo. First of all, I purchased a separate post card for the “cover.” We must have spent some extra time in EPCOT that trip and I wanted to remember that. When we visited this past fall for the 40th birthday of the Magic Kingdom, my cover card is a 40th anniversary post card. Secondly, I purchased a Mickey Mouse key chain to use as my loose leaf clip. I chose the orange Mickey because it reminds me that it was a fall trip. Totally optional for you to do of course.
And since this post was written, it was put online and only step 1 showed up. Therefore, I have re-written steps 2-4 after my return from trip number 65. So I thought I would show you this trip’s journal.’
I found this little Mickey antenna ball chain for $1.95 in the shops. Cheaper than a key chain for sure!
For all of us out there who do not have a scrapbooking green thumb, do not dispair! There are simple ways to remember your trip and here is one easy trip journal!

Maybe it’s just me, but step 2 isn’t showing up!
