Secrets of Tower of Terror

It is no secret that my very favorite ride at Walt Disney World is Tower of Terror. I love it for many reasons but the main reasons is because of the great attention to detail.  From the moment you enter the gates of this spooky attraction you are in for a full sensory experience. Everything about TOT screams Disney Imagineering!!! I have always wanted to do a bit of reserach into this attraction because I know there is so much to find and look at while you are waiting in line. So today I bring to you a three part series called, Secrets of Tower of Terror. A special thanks to the site towerofterror.org as many of these facts have come from their site. I highly recommend visiting their site if you are interested to know more about what lies behind the walls of Hollywood Tower of Terror!!!

  • Did you ever wonder what was in that lit up room at the top of the hotel? Well that is called a dummy room, there is nothing in it. All there is, is a light in a small room.
  • The Tower of Terror building was designed to look like the buildings in the Morocco pavilion at Epcot. This is because from a certain angle Tower of Terror is visible in World Showcase from the Morocco area.
  • Disney Imagineers viewed each of the 156 episodes of Twilight Zone at least 2 times in order to get the feel for the show. This allowed them to create an ambiance that was true to the show. In fact, many of the shows were views 3 to 4 times with the purpose of studying the set, props, settings and music.
  • The Tower of Terror was struck by lightning during construction.
  • The budget for Disney World’s Tower of Terror was $140 million….wow!
Be sure to check back tomorrow for some more fun secrets of Tower of Terror!! Hope you enjoyed!
