Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party used to be much like the Afterhours Events, no crowds and not very many people purchased tickets to it. Therefore, you could almost guarantee that you could have most of the park to yourself. Long gone are those days! With October becoming increasingly busier than it used to be, parties throughout the month of October are usually pretty crowded. Disney also introduced an unlimited party ticket where you can have access all season for a flat rate, as a result, a lot more locals come for the event as well, especially on the weekend days.
Our favorite times to go would be when the party first opens in the month of August and the first couple of weeks of September. If you take a look at the pricing for the tickets, you can see that the lower the cost, usually the lower the demand for tickets.
It is important to know that tickets do sell out so you should purchase your tickets in advance.
You are able to enter the party at 4:00 PM with your ticket. We recommend getting there right at 4 so that you can take full advantage of some of the offerings. The park will close at 6 and the party does not start until 7. Between 6-7 is a wonderful time to maximize on rides and lower crowds. Once 6pm hits, those without the wristbands will not be allowed in the park.
- You will receive a wristband when you arrive.
- You will be asked to show it as you ride attractions.
- Upon arrival, you will be shown to an area of the park where they are handing out trick-o-treat bags, and some fun photo-opportunities.
- We recommend relaxing before you head to the party..this way you can stay up late to enjoy.

We love taking advantage of Memory Maker when we are at the Halloween Party at Walt Disney World. Magic shots are make for some extra special memories. There are 30 magic shot opportunities scattered around Walt Disney World including many new and some fan favorites. Please take a look at THIS LINK to see a detailed list of Where you can find them.
We honestly do not recommend spending a lot of time dining during the party. But it is also important to know that not a lot of quick service locations stay open for long. Make sure you are prepared and have eaten or schedule a time to eat.

If you are unsure of what Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is be sure to read our complete guide. Possibly you are still unsure if you want to add tickets to your reservation, if that is the case see if we think the party is worth it here.
With the party starting at 7 pm there is an unofficial rule that Disney Cast Members will allow you to enter the park at 4 pm with your party tickets. This means that you have from 4-12 to plan for the festivities. We highly recommend that you plan to enter the park at 4 pm as the crowds begin to form outside of the park close to 7 making it almost impossible to enter on time. We have a plan below so that you can maximize your time.
This plan focuses on the party events and not just attractions:
- Enter the park at 4 pm and eat an early dinner at a location of your choice, just make sure it is in the park. Consult your park map to see where your highest priority meet and greet is located. For us, this would be Seven Dwarfs) Get in line, you will not be sorry.
- Pick up your Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Card if you collect them.
- Line up to meet the popular characters such as Jack and Sally, Dwarfs and Moana.
- There is special merchandise just for Halloween, be sure to schedule time in to shop if it is important to you. We usually shop after our preferred meet and greet so between 7:15-8:00.
- Make sure you eat, food locations are limited during the event.
- 8:00-8:55-Consult your map and travel through a few trick-o-treat locations .
- 9:30-10:00-Find your spot for fireworks.
- 10:00-11:00- Head over to the walkways in Liberty Square and Frontierland, on the side of the street opposite the Rivers of America for a great viewing spot of Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade.
- 11:00-midnight-Consult your map for a pick of your choice: trick-o-treating, character meet and greets, and ride your favorite attractions.
We would like to suggest that you make time to ride Haunted Mansion. Madam Leota makes a special appearance outside of the mansion as you wait in line. She is super spooky!!
- Do not attend the party on 10/31. It is unbelievably crowded. If you can avoid attending on 10/31 I would. There are other options for what to do on Halloween here.
- Do not attend on the weekend. I know that for some, it is unavoidable but if you have the option to attend during the week, and preferably early in the week do it. The weekend brings out the local crowds and causes it is be a bit more congested.
- Don’t wait until the last minute to find a seat for Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” parade. Allow at least 20 minutes to line up and relax before the parade.
- Don’t go to the first Boo-to-You parade. Go to the second one for lower crowds.
- Don’t spend the entire party riding the rides. Print our tips of must dos and grab a park map to see what is offered exclusively during the party.
- Do not wear a mask or bring in weapons of any kind. They will be collected at the door.
- Don’t arrive right at 7 for the party. Your ticket allows you entry into the park starting at 4 pm. This is when the crowds to get in are the lightest. If you wait until 7, plan to spend about 45 minutes in line before you can enter the park.
- If you plan to take a day off of touring the parks, make it the same day that you attend the party. We once made the huge mistake of touring EPCOT all day, dining at Coral Reef, heading back to Pop Century to get dressed and booked it over to the party. Needless to say, that was a really poor choice on my part. Allow some time for relaxation so that everyone is in good spirits and ready to party!
