Our Family LOVES dining at Jungle Skipper Canteen at Disney World-Magic Kingdom Park. There’s so many reasons why, just keep reading……
Step into the heart of the Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom Park and discover the hidden gem that is Jungle Skipper Canteen. This vibrant restaurant transports you to a bygone era of exploration, where quirky explorers and witty skippers guide you on a delicious journey through exotic flavors and playful humor.
Imagine stepping into a vintage jungle outpost, brimming with artifacts and memorabilia from daring expeditions. Quirky maps adorn the walls, antique compasses point the way, and the air buzzes with the chatter of adventurers recounting their thrilling exploits. This is the Jungle Skipper Canteen, a restaurant where the walls whisper tales of adventure and the food tantalizes your taste buds with a unique blend of global flavors.
The Canteen’s backstory is as rich as the décor. It’s rumored to be the former base camp of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.), a group dedicated to uncovering the world’s hidden secrets. The restaurant’s menu reflects this spirit of discovery, offering a diverse range of dishes inspired by the far-flung corners of the globe.
But the true magic of Jungle Skipper Canteen lies in its interactive experience. The skippers, dressed in their khaki exploration garb, are more than just servers; they’re storytellers, comedians, and guides, bringing the restaurant’s spirit to life with their witty banter and engaging personalities. They’ll share tales of their daring expeditions, crack jokes that’ll have you roaring with laughter, and even personalize your dining experience with fun and memorable interactions.
Once you check-in on the My Disney Experience App you will have plenty of shaded spaces to relax and wait for your table to be called. You may find your wait to be just a little bit over your reserved time. This is because Jungle Skipper Canteen often has lots of walk-up reservations available for last-minute diners.
You will be called and taken on an adventure to one of 3 curiously quirky dining rooms: the crew’s colonial-era Mess Hall (which is not messy at all, thank you very much); the Jungle Room, former family parlor of Dr. Albert Falls himself; and the S.E.A. Room—a once-secret meeting place for the Society of Explorers and Adventurers!
If you love Jungle Skipper “attitude” this will be the perfect spot for you. We always enjoy the themed service.
The Menu
The menu at Jungle Skipper Canteen is what we would call, “Global, adventurous cuisine inspired by the Jungle Cruise storyline.” Disney does consider this a more adventurous dining option, my family loves food and feels the cuisine here is normal and delicious.
