I know that when you think of a family cruise you automatically think of Disney. Disney has great activities for the whole family. However, there is time when you as the parents want to relax and rejuvenate as a couple. This is where the kids clubs come in handy.
My husband and I have been cruising for many years. My youngest was 3 and a half when we took our first cruise. I was VERY worried about sending Kim to the Oceaneers club without me being there for her. We dropped her off on the first day, she wanted to try certain activities that the Oceaneers club had available. I snuck back to the club after a couple of hours and Kim did not want to leave. She was having a great time!! I was happy that she was having a great time and after I saw that I was able to relax and enjoy myself.
The Oceaneer club is the ideal place for children 3 to 12. They can dress up as a favorite Disney character or play computer games and enjoy a wide variety of supervised themed activities throughout the day. You will be able to see what the activities are in your Personal Navigator. While some activities are recommended for certain age groups, participation is based on a child’s interest level and maturity – not age. As a result of this, siblings and friends can play together without restriction.

On the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder the Oceaneer club is inspired by Disney’s Peter Pan, the space is designed to look like Captain Hook’s pirate ship. Boasting a treasure chest-themed television set, lamps that resemble barrels, hanging ropes, wooden planks and a glistening fiber-optic night sky, the club provides a magical setting where kids can learn, play and interact with others. Other features include a computer lab with child-friendly computers, crow’s nest slide and rope bridge for exploring; this was Kim’s favorite spot. There is a Captain’s Closet dress-up room, a dance floor with a small stage for games. There are so many toys and games plus an open seating area for arts and crafts. Mats for naps are also available.
Ships: The Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy have a stage area where kids can create and star in their own theatrical plays, join storytelling sessions and attend special visits by Disney characters. The central rotunda has a 103-inch plasma screen for movies and magical Character interactions. It is also a portal to other “lands,” including Andy’s Room, Monster’s Academy, Pixie Hollow and Explorer Pod.

Here, kids can play with larger-than-life characters, including Rex the dinosaur, Hamm the piggy bank, Mr. Potato Head and a huge Slinky Dog structure. - Monsters Academy
An elaborately themed play structure where kids can immerse themselves in the world of Monstropolis among computers with unique interactive games. - Pixie Hollow
This space transports children to the magical world inhabited by fairies designed for dress-up play, individual craft projects and storytelling sessions among a tree with glittering lights. - Explorer Pod
Children can explore the bright blue and yellow submarine surrounded by virtual environments and 16 interactive computers stations for individual or group games.
There are so many places to explore and activities to play that I found it hard to tear Kim away from the club. It was great to have a special place for her to have fun. As she got older she went to the club for the older children, but we will talk about that at another time, I found Kim would drift back to the Oceaneers club now and again (both clubs are attached on the Dream and Fantasy). My goal with a vacation is to make great memories for my family and I know that Kim has real special ones from the cruises and especially from the Oceaneers club.
