I have always wondered if us regular folks ever have the chance to see/meet celebrities while we are vacationing at Walt Disney World. For years I have been on the hunt for someone famous. I mean come on after-all Disney World is mentioned by famous people all of the time….right? Well…until 2008 I had never ever met/saw anyone famous, that is besides Mickey Mouse. ;0)
It all happened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios…there is no place better than that to meet a celebrity The Block Party Bash was just getting ready to start and we needed to get to the Brown Derby but were stuck directly across the street from where we needed to be.
At that time I was not really paying attention but we were in a section that was roped off. As soon as I saw the camera crews approach the roped off area I took a look at the roped off area at the same time as my daughter and noticed… the Cheetah Sisters!!! Wow…we were 1 inch away from them…and I could not believe it.
This is where I was vastly disappointed. They were staring at their phones and would NOT look up. My extremely shy brother in law actually asked if they could look up to take a quick picture. My daughter’s smile turned into a saddened look. She loved these girls at the time and they would not even give her the time of day. When my brother in law asked them to take a picture one of the girls (sorry their names are escaping me) shook her head and looked back down at her phone…the other girl stood up and reluctantly took a picture with Lexis.
Now let me just say that I totally get that they are stars and that it is very annoying to be constantly approached and such. But I do have to say that you are a Disney star and you are at Walt Disney World. Yes…there were other people around but we were so secluded where we were that no one would have noticed if they could have given us 2 minutes. I really don’t think that Disney would have approved the attitude that they had in front of a fan.
This just made me sad! So I would love to know…have you ever seen/met a celebrity at Disney and if so tell me who and how it went. Hugs!!
See ya real soon!!

The one who didn’t take the picture was Kiely Williams and the reluctant one was Sabrina Bryan. If only they knew how short lived their careers would be I’m willing to bet they would have been a lot nicer to their fans. On a side note, one of the original members of their group is on the Playboy Club now and the other Cheetah Girl, Adrienne Bailon was Rob’s girlfriend on Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Mackenziie I totally agree! I was just stunned to see this behavior toward a child. Oh well like you said…I hope that they enjoyed their short run in Hollywood…lol.
Let’s see, I saw Ellen Barkin at Disney MGM in 1999. Only I couldn’t remember who she was until she had walked by me. And really, I didn’t need her autograph and figured she deserved to have a regular time at the theme park anyways.
In 2003 we say Mary Poppins! Ahem, that was Julie Andrews. Also at Disney MGM, she was there to do a reading of her children’s book. We were struck dumb at seeing her, she was being hustled along by a security team but awesome, we saw Mary Poppins!!!
My friend saw Michael Jackson in line with her at Buzz Lightyear. They had cleared out a portion of the line and she was at the end of it. My friend said he complimented her daughter’s dress!
I have seen Tom Bergeron, Marc Summers, Susan Lucci, Brian Dennehey. I think that’s everyone.
At Disneyland in 2009 I saw the girl that plays Sam on iCarly walking onto Indiana Jones. I felt *so* badly for her because she was walking along with her friends and then all of a sudden got mobbed right before she hit the queue. She was very sweet and gracious to everyone, her friends kept walking ahead. She was every ounce as pretty as she is on the show, and she was very nice to everyone who stopped her. I didn’t ask for her autograph for my daughter or get a picture off because it happened very quickly, I also didn’t want to stop her again as she tried to catch up with her friends in the queue.
I though that it was so cool that we saw her, but it’s got to be hard trying to enjoy your day and stuff like that happening. I also ran into some Disney Channel celebs at the Social Media Moms event. Some were very nice and mingled with people at the dinner, and others (the one I would have liked to talk to) seemed to be sheltered from the guests by a handler. I can imagine that a lot of factors go into how a star handles fans when they’re out in public. The one girl that I would have liked to talk to that was being sheltered by the handler looked like she didn’t feel very well that night. Perhaps she was just “working” and didn’t have it in her to be social.
