Dreaming of a vacation where deluxe accommodations meet unparalleled convenience? Look no further than Disney’s Contemporary Resort, a modern marvel nestled in the heart of the Magic Kingdom Resort area. During my recent stay in a Garden Wing Garden View room, I experienced firsthand the magic that unfolds within this iconic resort.
Location, Location, Location
The Contemporary’s prime location is undeniably its biggest draw. Situated within walking distance of Magic Kingdom and just a short monorail ride away from Epcot, this resort offers unparalleled access to two of Disney’s most beloved theme parks. No need to worry about navigating buses or long walks – folding the stroller, loading the scooter…etc.
It is important to note that if you do not book a room listed as a “Tower” room you will not be in the A-Frame building. You will be in a building off to the side. I did not feel that it was any less magical to stay in the garden wing. Be sure to watch my video below so you can see the covered walkway.
Wondering what the walk is like? Here’s my video where I walk from the Garden Wing to Magic Kingdom.
A Garden View Oasis
My Garden Wing Garden View room was a tranquil haven, offering a peaceful retreat from the excitement of the parks. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, featuring modern furnishings, plush bedding, and a well-equipped bathroom. I feel these rooms offer a lot of storage and a large enough space to spread out. We were at Disney during the extreme July heat so and used our room to take daily breaks.
Notes:
- The refrigerators on Disney property have all been replaced as beverage coolers. Think of these like a cooler and nothing more. We did find a workaround using THESE ICE BAGS from Amazon. They worked like a charm! We did need to dump and refill them daily which is not a problem.
- The Garden Wing rooms only have balconies on the first floor. You can request a first floor room at the time of booking but it is not guaranteed.
- All of the rooms in the Garden Wing have been updated to the Incredibles Theme as of 2024.
- The room feel is clean, crisp and modern. While the theme is Incredibles in the rooms, there’s nothing else at the resort that offers what we feel is a true Disney feel. The rooms are not quite as luxurious as what you find at Grand Floridian, Riviera, and Polynesian.
- The bathroom is sort of a split bath but not entirely. Be sure to watch our video. We felt the bathroom was a bit tight for us.
Modern Amenities and Deluxe Touches
The Contemporary boasts an impressive array of amenities to enhance your stay. From the rooftop California Grill, offering stunning views and delectable cuisine, to the expansive pool complex complete with a waterslide, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. I especially appreciated the convenience of the on-site shops and the ease of accessing Disney transportation.
We did feel that the quick service food area was a bit tired and overrun by people who are coming in for Chef Mickey’s. This made it difficult to find clean seating and order a quick bite. We did miss being able to order in-room dining.
