As an agency we book a lot of Pop Century because it is such a great value property. The huge draws are the totally cool food court…the food there is yummy and even your pickiest eater sure to find something they like. People also like the fact that beside Art of Animation, which is almost all family suites, Pop Century is the newest value property. Another plus is the fact that Pop Century does not share buses with any other property which means when you are on your way home at the end of the night you are going straight home. :0) Last but certainly not least is the price. People need a value and that is what Pop Century offers…Disney service and ambiance at a wonderful price sure to fit in all budgets.
Once you decide on your resort Disney offers multiple room categories and of course for a price. Many people, including me, do not want to chance booking a standard view because they want to be in the middle of it all. Now this really does depend on your family but typically a preferred view room is going to put you close to transportation, the main pool and the lobby/food area. For me this is a must! I find it is also a draw for many of our families that we work with.
Over the past year I have stayed at Pop Century 6 times for work. I would like to make mentioned that over these 6 times I have never once purchased a preferred room because I did not feel I needed to pay extra for that when I was not with my family but I wanted to see what happened when I asked to be placed close to where I usually “pay” to stay.
If you are looking to save a few extra bucks do not upgrade to stay preferred at Pop. I have found that when I ask for the 50’s or 60’s section at check in they honor it every single time. 5 of the six times I was put on the back side of the 60’s building 5101-5472. No matter what floor you are placed on this is a VERY short walk to the bus and food-court area. In addition, it is even shorter to the Hippy Dippy Pool. One time I was placed in the 50’s building 1101-1472. I did not care for this location quite as much so I was sure to note that to the front desk when I put in my request.
Another thing I really like about being in the 60’s buildings is that it is a 5 -8 minute walk from Pop to Art of Animation’s food-court, Landscape Flavors. We used this location several times on all of my work trips. :0)
Bottom Line
To save a few extra bucks skip the preferred room upgrade and request a building of your choice at check-in. It is not guaranteed but worth a try…odds are in your favor for getting close to what you are looking for.
