Pack a Disney Cooler

Money Saver Monday!!

Let’s face it when trying to save money while at Disney World the best place to focus is on food. That is one expense that you must have but at the same time you can actually cut corners. Disney has a variety of wonderful dining options from snack carts all of the way to signature dining. Lets take a step back from Disney Dining for a moment and focus on something a little different.

Did you know you can pack a cooler and bring it into the parks? There are rules and regulations when doing this but imagine the money you could save if you packed lunch every day on your vacation! If you are so inclined you can feel free to rent a locker and store your cooler in there until you are ready to eat.  Please keep in mind that items that are pulled behind you or on rollers are not permitted inside any of the parks.

Here are the rules by park:

Magic Kingdom:

You may only bring a small cooler that is held by one person. Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages as these items are not allowed in the parks.  Your cooler must fit inside of a locker in order to be permitted into the paek. Large coolers will be turned away.

Epcot:

You may only bring a small cooler that is held by one person. Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages as these items are not allowed in the parks.  Your cooler must fit inside of a locker in order to be permitted into the paek. Large coolers will be turned away.

Hollywood Studios:

You may only bring a small cooler that is held by one person. Coolers will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages as these items are not allowed in the parks.  Your cooler must fit inside of a locker in order to be permitted into the paek. Large coolers will be turned away.

Animal Kingdom:

Coolers are only allowed for medical purposes only. If you must bring a cooler for medical purposes it must fit in a locker, if it does not then you must check it in with Guest Relations. Coolers are NOT allowed in the Animal Kingdom Theme Park and will be inspected for glass and alcoholic beverages which are not permitted.

Water Parks:

You are permitted to bring coolers into the parks that can be safely carried. There are no storage areas for coolers at the water parks. No glass or alcoholic beverages are permitted.

I would love to know if you pack a lunch when you travel to Walt Disney World? How much money does it save you over the course of your vacation?

See ya real soon!!

  • Great information to know on each park! I’m debating if I want to carry a cooler like pictured above or a backpack…just not sure yet. Those water bottles get heavy, lol.

  • We do pack a cooler when we go to the parks. We just started because we used to live overseas and we didn’t want to use the little space we had in our luggage for a cooler. We bring a small cooler with sandwiches and drinks (we’ll eat breakfast at home before driving and eat dinner in the parks). But when we go for an overnight trip, we pack a big cooler with sandwich stuff, drinks, snacks, etc. and put it in the car. We have food for the drive down and then can make sandwiches the next morning in the hotel to pack in our little cooler for the day. We almost always still buy dinner, but bringing our own stuff for breakfasts and lunches definitely saves a lot of money!

  • Christina it is amazing how much you can save by cutting down one meal at the parks. Thanks for stopping by today!!
