Quest for Iced Coffee at Disney

*Since this post aired Disney has partnered up with Starbucks and you will now be able to indulge on a latte at WDW. But the options below are going to be much less expensive and in my opinion just as great.

I am a coffee junkie! My parents own a coffee distribution business so I have always been exposed to the best coffee around. My favorite coffee is an iced coffee with cream only, from Dunkin Donuts….makes my mouth water just to think about it.  Now I do have to say that since my last trip to Disney, which was October 2010, I have increased my coffee intake from 1 cup to several cups per day. I now need to have my afternoon cup of coffee or else it is not good…lol.   I am on a quest to find good iced coffee at Walt Disney World… after all, we all know that the Nescafe that they use in the dispensers is GROSS!

After much research here are the results: (I will be reporting back as soon as I return back from Disney)

  •  Writer’s Stop-This one is first on my list because I have personally been there and it is FANTASTIC! Not only is this place just adorable but it has great coffee and wonderful snack options. In fact everything on the menu is a snack credit. If you are looking for a morning or afternoon pick me up, check out Writer’s Stop for some real expresso and yummy coffee drinks.
  • Joffrey’s Coffee- There are several kiosks throughout Walt Disney World that serve Joffrey’s Coffee. Some of the spots that you can find this brew are: Animal Kingdom coffee carts, Contemporary Resort Coffee Bar, Yacht & Beach Club, Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach, Transportation and Ticket Center Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Outlet.
  • World Showcase happens to have some really wonderful options for coffee. Head on over to France and Italy Pavilions. Looks like Italy has a slightly better option than France. Visit the kiosk in front of Tutto Italia for a quick grab and go cup of coffee. Thank you to everythingmouse.com for their extensive research on coffee.
  • Kona Cafe at Polynesian- Depending on your tastes will determine what kind of coffee you will enjoy. Kona Cafe is the hot spot for coffee for many coffee lovers alike. Their coffee is served in a French Press coffee pot which serves 2 and will cost you $7.49. In addition, you can also order Cappuccino, Espresso, Lattes and Cafe Mocha.
  • Japan Pavilion Epcot- Now this was an interesting find. Refrigerated canned coffee with milk??? This can be found at an outdoor shop in the Japan Pavilion. Has anyone ever tried this?
After reseraching and writing this article, I can see that the quest for a good cup of coffee on Walt Disney property is something of a big deal to many Disney travelers. I am stumped as to why Disney would not have this taken care of, especially when we are such a coffee driven society. People are willing to pay big for their morning latte. In addition, it stuns me because Disney prides itself on having great dining choices that are top notch…what is happening with the coffee???? So here is my plea to Walt Disney World executives, “Can you please try really hard to get a contract going with a good quality coffee company??? Pretty please???”
Until then here are a few quick fixes:
  • Grind your own and brew it in your resort room.
  • Purchase Via by Starbucks. It costs about $8 for a pack of 12 and it tastes pretty darn good. I have mine all ready to go. I just need to make sure that I can get my hands on some half and half. :0)
  • If you have a car you can drive over to the Hess gas station to get your self serve cup of Dunkin Donuts…yep that is right folks!!
  • Hop on over to Sawn and Dolphin for your cup of Starbucks…yummy!
See ya real soon!!

  • […] Several weeks back before  we embarked on our yearly trip to Walt Disney World, I voiced my concerns for a good cup of coffee at Disney. So I did a little research before we left and wrote an article about the places that were “supposed” to have decent coffee. Now, I have to say I was a bit hesitant to believe any reviews as I consider myself a coffee snob. I have read places where people actually say that the Nescafe is good…..yikes! I know, maybe not everyone is as into coffee as I am so this is not to upset anyone that likes Nescafe as I am sure there are things that I think are good that others would wonder, how the heck I could think that!!!  Check out my “Quest for a Good Cup of Coffee” here.
