Dis Savvy here with a discussion of EPCOT area resorts. I have to say it’s probably the BEST area to stay on property. WHY? I’m so glad you asked.
1. LOCATION
When you look at a map of the massive property that is Walt Disney World, EPCOT is pretty much center. Therefore, staying here puts you closest to half of the theme parks. When getting into parks, it can take up to an hour from hotel room door to park turnstile. Being this close to the magic helps! Depending on where you are staying, you might catch a glimpse of Illuminations fireworks from your room! If you are staying at Yacht and Beach Club Resort, you can walk to EPCOT and if you are staying at Boardwalk, you can walk to Hollywood Studios.
2. TRANSPORTATION
The options in this area are pretty cool. As a mom who drives a mini van every day, our family loves using every kind of transportation available to us while on property. Of course you have buses – be warned though. You cannot get to EPCOT from Yacht and Beach Club on a bus! Not to worry. As mentioned above, you can take a leisurely stroll into EPCOT through the International Gateway (entering right between France and UK). You also can take a Friendship from many of the hotels that border Crescent Lake to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. (hotels being Yacht and Beach, Boardwalk and Swan and Dolphin).
When we stay in this area, we tend to use EPCOT as our transportation hub. Want to go to Magic Kingdom? Walk through EPCOT and monorail it. Walk to EPCOT and take a boat home when our feet are aching. Sadly, you can only bus it to Animal Kingdom.
3. RESORT OPTIONS
Yes, there are alot of Deluxe resorts in this area. Yes, the Dis Savvy family is in the Disney Vacation Club so we stay deluxe. I haven’t forgotten about other options in this area. Pop Century and Art of Animation resorts are in this area. When the Disney Guru Girls visited WDW in September, we stayed at Pop Century.
Pop Century and Art of Animation offer Value and Moderate Accommodations in the same area. There is only bus transportation from these resorts but it won’t take you an hour to get to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios!
