Imagine lounging by an adult pool during the day while your children are learning how to make Flubber. Taking in a Broadway style show every night together as a family. Rotating from three specially theme restaurants for dinner. These are some of the special activities that you can enjoy on a Disney Cruise.
My family went on our first cruise in 2006 (this was our tenth wedding anniversary!) We wanted to have a once in a lifetime trip. Well, we have just come back from our 4th family cruise this past November. It is very addicting to be pampered like you are royalty.
We would plan our day first thing in the morning while we had coffee and pastries in our stateroom (this was our wake up call and it is included in the price of the trip!!!). The whole family would check out our Personal Navigator, which lists all the activities available that day. Then we would go off to have fun for the day.
I loved going to brunch with my husband at Palos. It is an adult only restaurant that has a variety of Italian options to choose from. It was like we were having our own special celebration on the ship.
One of the special features that is new on the ships is the wave phone. When we went the first time this was not yet available which was okay since my children were small and I was not letting them wander the ship with me. However, my son is now 13 years old and wants his independence. We gave him a wave phone that works all around the ship and even on Castaway Cay. I was happy to let him have space but still be able to get in touch with him if I wanted.
One of the highlights for us was the Pirate Party that Disney has while you are out to sea. It is a great dance party after the shows and dining of the evening….typically it starts at 10:30 pm. You dance and watch as Captain Hook tries to take over the ship. This is capped off with a midnight buffet. Did I mention you can eat all the time while on the ship?
There is so much to do that you will be sad…we always are, when it is over. That is why we try to go back every other year! I love all things Disney.
