Welcome back to our educational series on the Universal Orlando Resort! If you are just joining us be sure to catch up here.
As super theme park junkies, we of course set our alarm and arrive at the parks before anyone else. There are several key reasons why but we are going to stick with touring for today.
Some things to know first…
- Universal Orlando Resort transportation begins 2 hours before park opening. Just one hour before the Early Morning Hours.
- If you are staying on property and during busy season (summer, holidays and special events) you will want to be on the first ride of the day.
- If you are traveling during lower crowd times, we like to recommend you arrive at the gate about 30 minutes before opening.
Rope Drop at Universal Studios
A few minutes before opening a Universal Studios employee will announce the “first family” which is a family chosen to officially open the park.
When there is early park admission, you will not see a mad dash as guests are walked right down the street past Despicable Me and into Diagon Alley. Day Guests will be taken to a holding area where they have to wait until official park opening to be released.
On days where there are not any early morning hours the park has still been known to open up to 30 minutes early. This happened to my family once, just be sure to arrive early so that you can get s jump start on the lines in Wizarding World.
Being that both major attractions in Wizarding World do not take Express Pass, this is the time to get in line. We never wait for either attraction when we use the early morning hours.
Rope Drop at Islands of Adventure
This location is very simple as there is not an opening ceremony here. When you enter the Port of Entry, you will be walked through Seuss Landing into Hogsmeade. The same applies like at Universal Studios:
