Disneyland – Different But the Same
This week I have had the honor of attending a special conference for Disney agencies at Disneyland in California. One of the natural things that we all do is to compare. Of course, we compare Walt Disney World to Disneyland. It’s different, but the same. How is that for wishy washy?
Many of the rides have a sense a familiarity about them. Pirates of the Caribbean. Tower of Terror. Small World….and the list goes one. But things are different on these rides.. Pirates was longer, started in the front of the building, rather than going deep into the cavern. Tower of Terror totally threw me – no ride out into the window, the drops started right away! Small World was longer and some of the scenes had more embellishments. Different but the same.
Personally, I am in really enjoying Disneyland. One of the reasons is the size. You can walk everywhere. No busses needed. The first two nights we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. It had a cool 60’s Vegas like vibe to it. The Walt touches were everywhere. But here is what blew my mind….you leave your room at Frontier Tower, walk to Downtown Disney and you are in the park in less than 10 minutes! WOW. Oh, it gets even better. Now, we moved to the Grand Californian Resort and it is literally in California Adventure Park! From the time we left the lobby to the time we scanned our cards into the park, it was under 3 minutes! All this gives us more time to explore the parks and enjoy our time here. I have read about this, but quite frankly didn’t really sink in until I experienced it. Totally cool!
