Eating and Saving at Disney World

Money Saver Monday!!

Seems like when we talk about saving money, 90% of the time it includes a conversation about food. :0) I know we have said it before, that is you eat a meal a day in your room, you can save yourself a bundle by the end of your trip. Today’s tips are about things you can do/use in your room to help you save money on eating.

  • Did you know that you can buy milk in the box and that it does not need to be refrigerated? Yes!!! You can purchase a variety pack of cereal and the milk in the box from Amazon and have it shipped directly to your room.  In addition, you can pack Styrofoam bowls or cups and plastic spoons. This little trick can save you quite a lot of money for the duration of your stay. It can also save you time which we all know is priceless!! I usually have my kids eat and watch cartoons while I finish getting ready for the day. This mirrors our routine at home which helps start the day off right.
  • All rooms on Disney property have a coffee maker except Value resorts. You can use the coffee maker not only for coffee and tea but to warm up your water and make instant oatmeal. We did this a few trips back because my middle son was on an oatmeal kick. He just loved waking up to his favorite breakfast and I loved that it was VERY easy to pack and make.
  • All of the Disney resorts have a resort snack station that has items you can purchase to create your own continental breakfast. donuts, cinnamon rolls, fruit and bagels. You can go down and purchase these items in advance and have them in your room. This way all you have to do is get up grab and go.
  • I love to have my favorite coffee while on vacation. I grind my own coffee daily.  I grind my coffee at home and put it into zip-lock bags that are labeled for each day.

  • Great ideas, Kelly! We got the donuts on our last trip. My little guy is a big breakfast eater. When he can’t have bacon, eggs, and pancakes, he’ll settle for donuts, pop tarts or 2 bowls of cereal. I brought pop tarts for the youngins and somehow Bubby conned his Grandpa into donuts from the food court anyway 🙂

  • Ohhh I like the pop tart idea!! I did not think of that. Great tip!!
