I Hope Santa Wears Mickey Ears

Dear Santa,

I know it’s not “normal” for a grown woman to write to you, unless she’s your wife.  But sometimes, that kid in my just bubbles up and I can’t resist.  I know in the past I have written you letters asking for this doll or that toy, but this time. . .things are different.

I’m Disney dreaming!!!  Do you know what I mean?  I have things yet to experiance at this magical place, including the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  I know, we went to Disney World in December 2005, but we had no clue that this was something so spectacular.  I thought it was just another parade.  Boy was I wrong!  It’s a magical transformation that only Disney can do.

I want to see it snow on Main Street USA, in the heart of Florida.  I want to share a mug of hot cocoa with a new friend whom I just met from Ireland.  I want to feel like I’m really in another place . . . another world!!  Where my kids can share and learn the traditions of the season with people from other contries, for once, we are all one.  Where are our cares and worries are swept away as we await your arrival for all to see.

I want to see the lights as I have never seen them before as they cascade down the street, filling the night sky with a warmth that only Christmas can bring.  I want to be where tears fill my eyes at the sight of my little girl hugging Cinderella and my son holding Donald Duck’s wing.  I want my husband to see that there is magic besides the everyday park atmosphere, that Christmas beats strong there too.

I know I won’t be there this year, and I can’t promise I’ll be able to go next.  However, I hope that one year I will be sipping my hot cocoa while my kids nibble on Mickey cookies with tears glistening on my cheek.  The Disney snow sticking to my hair while my husband wraps his arm around me as we quietly watch the performers parade down the street.

Santa, I want to be at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party before my oldest doesn’t want to go beacuse he feels he’s too old.  Oh sweet Saint Nick, of all those letters in my youth you ignored, please do not ignore this one as it’s more then just a want; it’s my dream!

Merry Christmas!

Theresa
