If you’ve heard the buzz about Genie+ and Lightning Lane but aren’t quite sure what all the fuss is about, you’re not alone. These new-ish tools are designed to help you spend less time standing in lines and more time enjoying the magic—especially helpful when you’ve got preschoolers and grandparents in your party.
What Exactly Is Genie+?
Think of Genie+ as your personal fast pass for select rides and attractions. For a daily fee, you can book access to Lightning Lanes—special entrances that let you skip the regular lines. It’s like cutting the queue, which feels like winning Disney at life!
Reminder: Guests of Disney Resorts Collection hotels can purchase passes in advance up to 7 days before they arrive!
How Does Booking Work?
On the day of your park visit, open the My Disney Experience app and reserve your first Lightning Lane as soon as you’re allowed (usually right at park opening). Once you’ve used that reservation or the time window has passed, you can book another—and so on throughout the day.
Should You Get Genie+?
For families with little kids and grandparents, Genie+ can be a game changer. It minimizes wait times, reduces meltdowns, and lets you savor those magical moments instead of standing around.
Keep in mind, it’s an extra expense—so weigh it against your family’s style and budget.
