Disney’s Contemporary Resort Review

Over the past year, my job has afforded me to stay on every single resort along the monorail and multiple times. I’ve been able to thoroughly review the impact that proximity has on a Walt Disney World vacation stay. I’ve also stayed at the moderate and value level over the past year as well.

This week I am going to feature what is my most recent favorite resort on Disney Property and that is, Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This resort gets my vote even after staying at the following resorts over the past 12 months: (The numbers indicate how many stays over the past 12 months.)

  • Pop Century-2
  • French Quarter-1
  • Riverside-2
  • Beach Club-1
  • Polynesian-1
  • Grand Floridian-2
  • Animal Kingdom-1
  • Contemporary-2
  • Bay Lake-1

As you can see, I’ve done my due diligence of research and this list does not even include where I’ve stayed over the years, it is just where I’ve stayed the past 12 months.

Here’s the facts….

The Theme

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is super modern contemporary. Upon entering the property you are greeted with an extremely pleasant fragrance which actually makes you look it up so you can duplicate it in your own home. The views from this property are stunning no matter which location you stay. I prefer to save some extra change and stay in a Tower Lake View. I know that facing the castle is amazing, but equally amazing is the serene view of Bay Lake and the ambiance of the pool and wilderness.

The truth is, no matter if you are in a garden wing or the A-Frame building where the monorail passes through, you are sure to enjoy the extra special experience you will have when splurging for a room at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

The Pool

The pool is less than thrilling but it does look over Bay Lake and offers fun music and vibe throughout the day. You will notice there are 2 pools right along the lake. The pool features a 17-foot slide and 2 relaxing whirlpools. In addition, there is a playground just for the kids.

The Dining

One reason I really enjoyed my tower room is the accessibility to the dining. Because I was staying for work and pleasure, I did utilize my room more on one of my stays. I really loved that I could walk out of my room and down to Contempo Cafe, their quick service restaurant. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan you will see how convenient it is to fill your resort mug throughout the day.

Chef Mickey’s is a wonderful way to start your day! This popular character dining experience is also located just down the elevator from your tower room.

California Grill is an amazing signature dining experience not to miss. Be sure to contact your Guru Travel Professional to experience this one-of-a-kind dining. We will give you all of the tips on how to see fireworks even if you cannot get a reservation during that time.

The Wave…of American Flavors serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’ve dined here and really enjoyed their cuisine. I believe this American dining location is very underrated and super easy to walk into if you do not have a reservation.

Transportation

A huge draw for people is the monorail. Having this feature right at your fingertips makes your Disney vacation a breeze! Magic Kingdom park, Epcot and select Disney Deluxe Resort hotels are just minutes away by monorail. Please make sure to contact your Guru Travel Professional to learn more about the 3 monorail lines.

If you are not traveling to Epcot or Magic Kingdom, then you will use the bus. I found I liked using Lyft because the buses were super crowded.

The Rooms

There are a plethora or spacious rooms to pick from. The nice thing here is the rooms start sleeping 5 adults and work their way up to 7 adults depending on room choice.  Some categories will require us to call in to secure but nothing to fear, we have the connections to make that happen for you.

For the most part, the rooms are the same. I absolutely fell in love with the added space, the amazing beds and the split bath which allows multiple people to shower, bathroom and get ready at the same time. In addition, for anyone needing to conduct business while they travel, the amazing desk add such a nice touch.

It is important to note that if you stay in the garden wing you may not have a balcony…it is a french balcony. I stayed in one of those as well as a Tower Room. Let me tell you, the space on the balcony is amazing! At night when the Electrical Water Pageant came by, it was so amazing to sit in bed with a glass of wine and the slider open, to enjoy the show. Made for some extra magic.

Room Bedding (most rooms)

  •  2 Queen Beds and 1 Day Bed or 1 King Bed and 1 Day Bed

  • Plush Bedding
  • Spacious Rooms
  • Dining
  • Ease of Transportation
