I had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Floridian last week when I attended the press event for Pandora-World of Avatar. I thought that it was important that I take a video of the resort room because I know that Grand Floridian is a resort which is on the bucket list of many Walt Disney World fans. I have to say that the resort does not let you down in any way.
Just a couple of quick thoughts…
Before you mistakenly say that Grand Floridian is not for children (yes, I’ve been there, said it as well.) think about the following MAJOR advantages to staying at Grand Floridian.
- Proximity-If you are traveling with your family, the convenience between being able to get to two out of 4 parks via Monorail is HUGE! Notice I did not mention the age of your family because it does not matter. Being that close to the magic keeps things stress free for any age traveler.
- Size- No matter where you stay, you are within reach of everything you need to be comfortable. The buildings are nicely situated around the resort leaving you less than a 2-3 minute walk from any location to the main lobby, pool, stores etc.
- Room Size-As you can see in the video, Grand Floridian Resort rooms are designed with 5 people in mind and they mean business. The rooms by Disney standards are large. I found my room in Sago Cay larger than a friend’s room a Boca Chica.
- Beds-I have stayed at almost all resorts throughout the Walt Disney World property and I have to tell you that the beds at Grand Floridian are heaven. When I say it, I mean it. I was actually excited to jump in bed and enjoy the feeling of what I would imagine is compatible to sleeping on a cloud.
- Security- No not the security at the resort. Disney now has the amazing advantage where if you are staying at a monorail resort you get to clear security at the resort before you board the monorail. You may wonder why this is a nice feature. No lines for security at the park. Once you get off of the monorail at the park, you get to go right to ticketing. Makes mornings a breeze!
